WA has recently announced their New Skilled Migrant Employment Register to connect skilled migrants with WA jobs, with the register allowing prospective workers to advertise their skills directly to keen employers. Despite Western Australia's unemployment rate at record low levels, the State still requires skilled labour in a diverse range of industries.
Skilled employees who are seeking employment can fill out the form on the Migration Services website, so that they can be connected with employers who are on the search for workers. If you are an employer, you can view the Skilled Migrant Employment Register to find employees with the skills you are seeking. You'll need to fill out the Connect with a Skilled Migrant Registration form and quote the unique identifier listed under that employee, in order to upload your details to the system and get into direct contact with them. More detail can be found at: Migration WA - Skilled Migrant Employment Register.
Another grant that is being offered is the Regional Traineeship Program to boost skills development and employment opportunities across regional Western Australia. The $2 million funding round is available to Western Australian Community Resource Centres and eligible local government authorities to support trainees' skills and knowledge, offering grants of up to $38,000 per trainee. Organisations that are eligible will be invited by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development to lodge a grant application for the funding. Applications open on 8 August 2022 and close on 5 September 2022.
